Plas Gilfachwen is rumoured to date back to the twelfth century with the current house built in the early 19th century and closely influenced by the famous architect John Nash, famed for designing Buckingham Palace. In the book ‘The Buildings of Wales – Ceredigion & Carmarthenshire’ the property is described as “One of a group of early 18th century villas closely influenced by John Nash’s local works in the 1790s. Stucco hipped three-bay square house, built for the Rev. Thomas Lloyd, extended by a bay in 1980. The narrow tripartite ground-floor sashes in arched reveals with false fanlights are a motif from Nash’s Llanerchaeron.”

In more recent years, the current owners have converted a former traditional barn into a charming, one bedroom holiday cottage and there is perhaps potential to convert the equally attractive garage / workshop in the garden to a further cottage, subject to the necessary permissions.

The land has long frontage to the River Teifi although the fishing rights are owned by a close neighbour.

The property is pleasingly secluded yet not isolated and the south facing views over the Teifi Valley are glorious.

The property is within walking distance of Llandysul which offers a useful range of day to day shops and amenities including a secondary and primary school and leisure centre. Fuller ranges of shopping facilities can be found in nearby Carmarthen and Cardigan.
